just getting IN the music world is so much . you have to find people tat believe in you just as much as you do , then build a fan base , and then you have to find a record label that fits you and all you want to do in your music . and after all that is over and done , you have to sit back and be criticized for everything you do and wear ; especially Prince . his out-of-the-ordinary style made it hard for people to accept him and think to give his music a chance . at the least , he is a musical genius and one hell of a performer , and because of that he gained acceptance from people all over the world . put yourself in his shoes . imagine going through this long road of stardom, experiencing the highest heights and the steepest valleys, unsure of how much your music impacted later generations , and then receiving this :
how do you begin to describe that feeling ? to be truly honored and thanked for your work . for pregnant women to climb on pianos , for old women to kick off their shoes , for young women to dance and scream as hard as you did . these women , alicia keys , patte labelle and janelle monae , gave their performances all that they have and more . and for YOUR song to be the one being performed ... wow . the feeling is one i can barely fathom .
Prince , you deserved it . you are amazingggg . it sucks because our generation doesn't understand the depths of how good your music was , and some never will . well , i know . and i thank you everyday for making my dream possible .
